En effet, c'est un jour béni pour tous les amoureux d'épouvante scintillante et intelligente car arrive directement en support DVD l'excellent nouveau long-métrage du inspiré Christopher Smith (prodige aux commandes du caverneux Creep, du âpre Black Death et du décalé Severance) nommé TRIANGLE, humide trip sanglant narrant l' excursion en mer d' une jeune mère célibataire surmenée, Jess, accompagnée d'un groupe d'amis et qui va tourner au cauchemar après le chavirement de leur voilier, l'espoir rennaissant quand un paquebot surgissant de nulle part leur offrira terre d'accueil. Seul bémol, le monstre des mers est desert et il se passe à son bord de très bizarres evenements qui auront un retentissement dramatique sur chacun des personnages...
Budget serré mais grandes aspirations, camera virevoltante et sujet labyrinthe, acteurs au diapason (dont la toujours excellente et volontaire Melissa George, que l'on retrouvera dans bien d'autres chroniques tant son talent et sa fraicheur font d'elle une indiscutable plus-value), clin d'oeil appuyé et références digérées (ici Shining, là La Quatrième Dimension, un peu plus loin un feeling à la X-Files...), tout est stress, angoisse et etonnement, jusqu'à la dernière minute qui appelle immediatement un nouveau visionnage du film, convoquant les ambiances interrogatives dont on s'est délecté lors d'un precedent Shutter Island, par exemple.
Un film nerveux et qui herisse le poil malmenant par la même occasion nos meninges, ne nous laissant aucun répit. Et de nombreuses questions en suspend.
Delicat d'en dire plus car cela serait comme assassiner l'intrigue kafkaïenne et noyer le plaisir de bien belles sensations et d'un sentiment de satisfaction qui perdure longtemps après la fin de ce DVD.
Une superbe surprise ?
En fait non, surprise n'est plus le mot tant on sait maintenant que Christopher Smith est un excellent realisateur maitrisant son propos les yeux fermés et depassant les restrictions avec une intelligence et une maestria remarquables, et ce sur chacun de ses films.
Une superbe demonstration plutôt, de talent et de volontarisme.
